Cervical cancer is a serious disease that can threaten the life and health of women. Therefore, it is important to know how to prevent and detect it in time.

We share with you information based on on official up-to-date sources.

What is screening?
Screening is a medical examination that helps to detect cervical cancer in the early stages. It is carried out by a doctor’s referral.

When to start screening?
Screening should begin at the age of 21, regardless of when sexual activity began. Human papillomavirus (HPV), which can lead to cancer, often disappears on its own in young women. Therefore, up to the age of 24, screening is carried out only once every three years using a cytological test (Pap smear).

How often should I be screened?

  • From 21 to 65 years old – cytological examination (smear test) every 3 years.
  • From 35 to 65 years – HPV test every 10 years.

Do I need to be screened if I have been vaccinated against HPV? Yes, you need to be screened even if you have been vaccinated against HPV.

Remember that timely screening can save lives!Be attentive to your health and do not forget to undergo regular medical examinations.
