Michael Hollifield, MD, President and CEO of the War Survivors Institute (WSI), is internationally
recognized for his research funded by the National Institutes of Health (NIH) and the Department of Veterans Affairs, and for helping to establish clinical and research programs for survivors in Africa, Sri Lanka, and most recently in Ukraine.

His work focuses on assessing war experiences and symptoms, developing new treatments for post-traumatic symptoms and disorders, and developing screening and intervention models in post-conflict settings. He is a family physician and psychiatrist who has led educational and developmental initiatives in integrative and holistic health care for the national veterans’ health care system.
