The use of acupuncture and the latest therapeutic techniques in the U.S. Veterans Administration and U.S. military training and hospitals for rehabilitation and resilience. Results of work in Ukraine since 2019 on rehabilitation and acupuncture. Case studies.

15:00 – 15:20 Welcome, introductions and summary of the work done in Ukraine since 2019 with rehabilitation and acupuncture.
15:20 – 16:00 Novel therapeutics with evidence-based practices. Acupuncture for trauma, PTSD, Brain Injuries, Phantom Pain, Mobility problems. Novel therapies — Stellate Ganglion Block + Imagery Rehearsal Therapy. Scalp acupuncture for mobility concerns during rehabilitation. Battlefield Acupuncture as analgesic.

About the Lecturers

 

Dr. Celia Hildebrand (Symchak), DAOM, LAc is an Associate Professor of Family and Community Medicine at the University of Arizona and faculty of the Andrew Weil Center for Integrative Medicine. Her clinical practice with includes more than 50 patients / week. She has trained more than 130 Ukrainian providers in use of Asian medicine for physical and mental trauma in Ukraine since 2019 when UzhNU hosted her as a Fulbright Specialist.

 

Dr. Mitchell Elkiss, DO has 40 years of experience in clinical integrative neurology as well as osteopathic medicine and medical acupuncture. He is co-director of the Helms Medical Institute, providing acupuncture training for primary care physicians. His most recent publication is " HMI Auricular Trauma Protocol: An Acupuncture Approach for Trauma Spectrum Symptoms.

 

Olena Mukonina is a Lviv-based osteopatic practicioner, psychologist, reflexologist, researcher of holistic and integrative approaches to health care and restoration, as well as traditional medicine. She has 13 years of experience as a counseling psychologist including crisis psychologist/osteopathic volunteer in the Psy for Peace project for residents of Belarus and Ukraine. Since 2022 she has been working in the field of trauma management and post- trauma recovery. Co-founder of Re:Creators, an NGO helping people recover from war.
