✨ POCUS – a 21st century stethoscope in the hands of Transcarpathian doctors

Publication date: 18.08.2025

The long-awaited training course on POCUS – applied ultrasound diagnostics that provides answers to clinical questions here and now – was held at the “InterFamily” Clinic again.

This time, we were visited by experienced expert trainers Stanislav Kravchuk and Yuriy Mashyka, together with our talented teacher Oksana Ilkov, a POCUS enthusiast, and partners from the Together for Ukraine Foundation.

📍 The Department of Family Medicine and Outpatient Care of the Medical Faculty #2 of UzhNU traditionally welcomed teachers and practitioners of various specialties – from family doctors to gastroenterologists, psychiatrists and intensive care specialists.

POCUS is a tool that is rapidly changing approaches in medicine. It consists of many training modules and opens up new opportunities for clinicians in a wide variety of fields.

💡 At the end of the course, the educators had a lively discussion about the place of this technology in modern medical education. And we already have good plans as an advanced department ready for innovation.

Starting from the next academic year, each group of 6th year students of the School of Medicine and the School of Medicine 2, regardless of their specialty, will receive a practical master class on POCUS in the course of family medicine.

The students will be able to hold the ultrasound probe and feel how this “21st century stethoscope” helps in solving clinical problems.

POCUS clinical reviews will be included in the family medicine course for senior students, and additional classes will allow them to master this skill even more deeply.

👏 Well done to our doctors and teachers!
We change the schedule – we change the mind – we change medicine, we improve the quality of life of patients.
