On May 31, a bright and meaningful event took place in the heart of the city, on Teatralna Square, as part of the ShowUp4Health project, aimed at promoting the idea of evidence-based prevention and screening among Uzhhorod residents.
It was not just an information campaign – it was a live meeting between doctors and the community, where everyone could learn how health care can be modern, individualized and effective. Instead of outdated template “check-ups” that have lost their relevance in countries with developed healthcare systems, we talked about personalized prevention planning — taking into account the age, gender, heredity and lifestyle of each person.
The dermatological screening location was of particular interest to passers-by. During the day, specialists conducted more than 400 skin examinations, and two people were diagnosed with cancerous lesions that required further treatment. This is a clear confirmation of how important it is to pay attention to your health in time.
The project team worked smoothly, professionally, and sincerely – it was clear that each of the doctors present did not come to “hold a campaign” but to be really close to people. The atmosphere was friendly, open, and inspiring – passersby stopped, asked questions, shared their stories, and invited their families.
The team of Interfemale doctors was joined by medical students from the Medical Faculty of UzhNU 2.
This day proved that evidence-based prevention is not an abstract idea, but a real tool for caring for lives. We are grateful to everyone who participated – the organizers, doctors, volunteers, and, of course, the residents of Uzhhorod who came and showed interest and trust.
It will continue. And we are happy to move forward together.
