Recently, a big event took place at the ‘InterFamily’ clinic – an honorary citizen of Uzhhorod, a family doctor from Corvallis (Oregon, USA), an experienced doctor with 50 years of experience, a father of 6 children, a family doctor with a capital letter and the godfather of family medicine in Transcarpathia, Dr. Mark Rampton, came to us with another annual visit.
It was interesting to observe minor surgical interventions by Mark Rampton @mark.rampton 🥼🩺
In the practice of a US family doctor, minor surgery is a daily routine. The doctor removes papillomas, moles, warts, dissects small abscesses, removes ingrown toenails, etc. They even perform contraceptive surgeries, such as tying the spermatic cords in men. For our men, such an operation seems to be something unrealistic.
Interestingly, all this is done in a regular office, in casual clothes without a gown or mask, and the results of treatment are no worse than those of our outpatient surgeons.
Also, some family doctors in the United States (not all) deliver their patients’ babies themselves, and then provide the care for these babies. Dr. Rampton has more than one thousand newborns to his credit, whom he has helped to be born over the 50 years of his practice. Our Ukrainian family doctors have been delivering babies from birth for a long time, but they still have to master certain skills.
These were two interesting days full of information and new experiences for our doctors and interns. Dr. Rampton will also be seeing patients on Wednesday, 25.09, so make an appointment if you have any concerns!
“InterFamily” – the necessary help at the highest level!
