The Leonardo course, developed by the European Academy of Family Medicine Teachers EURACT, has been successfully conducted in Europe for many years for mentors, trainers, and teachers from many countries.

We had a unique opportunity to take the course in Ukraine, in hospitable Uzhhorod, which has once again proved that it is able to warmly welcome guests and present Ukraine internationally as a modern European country with a rich culture and progressive science. The course was held for the first time in Ukraine, in Uzhhorod, in the unique building of the Department of Family Medicine and Outpatient Care of the Medical Faculty of UzhNU.

Speakers from Europe and participants from Ukraine were impressed by the unique premises of the new building of the department, equipped with the latest teaching tools and equipment, a simulation center, halls and classrooms decorated with works of art that were donated to the department by a Transcarpathian amateur master, family doctor Natalia Kolesnyk.

The Leonardo course is an opportunity, first of all, to exchange experience with colleagues from Ukraine and Europe, to get inspiration and inspiration, because teaching, like any skill, requires not only constant practice but also improvement.

The organizer and coordinator of this international event was Pavlo Kolesnyk, founder and head of the InterFamily clinic and national coordinator of Ukraine in the European Academy of Family Medicine.

3 days of intensive theoretical and practical classes, the organizational part of the event, a city tour and an authentic dinner made a great impression on Ukrainian doctors and international colleagues.

The course participants received international certificates, new knowledge, useful skills and unforgettable impressions.

The EURACT Leonardo first level course is designed for those who want to

be engaged in teaching family medicine, or already have some experience in this area

Its main goals are to improve the level of individual level in teaching family medicine in European countries, to ensure dissemination of knowledge and skills by course participants in their countries and cities

As part of the Leonardo course, international workshops, simulation and virtual, were held under the auspices of the Digi4Care grant

POCUS – point of care ultrasound, a visual training of ultrasound, which was conducted by a 5th year student of UzhNU, a talented guy from Africa.

Workshop with virtual devices: virtual glasses, otoscope, and stethoscope (we have a separate video about them in our profile). They discussed the numerous advantages of this modern equipment and new opportunities for teaching family medicine.

They also introduced the course participants to simulation manikins, which are unique equipment used by students and doctors for educational purposes.In addition, we separately highlightedworkshops on rehabilitation and interesting practical exercises in teams, where doctors tried on other roles to improve doctor-patient communication.
